Help Urszula bag the record for the fastest marathon dressed as a postwoman

Postwoman Urszula Bednarz from Christchurch Delivery Office in Dorset, will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 28 April, in aid of An African Dream – a charity which works to help orphans in Uganda.

An African Dream works to educate, equip and transform the community of East Kasese in Western Uganda, providing education, meals and uniforms for orphans.

Urszula’s colleague, postman Allan Ellement, told her about An African Dream and has been helping with her fundraising efforts. Allan has been involved with the charity for five years and has visited East Kasese a number of times as part of a team who help support the many pupils at St Mark’s Primary School, who are orphans.

Urszula has been running for around 10 years and has managed to finish four marathons to date, including last year’s Porto marathon.

‘This year’s London marathon will be my second after the 2015 event,’ she said. ‘To make things a little harder, I will be attempting to break the Guinness World record for the fastest marathon dressed as a postwoman. I'd like to think that my training is going well, but as every marathon runner will tell you, it's extremely hard to juggle family life, work and training.

‘I usually do three or four runs a week. One long run which can be anything between 12 and 20 miles and two or three shorter runs between six and 10 miles. As the weeks go by I'm getting little bit anxious. Running 26.2 miles in under four hours in my full work uniform carrying a bag weighing at least 10 pounds won't be easy. But doing it for An African Dream makes it very special and gives me that extra bit of motivation.’
