Amazon is planning to open a new fulfilment centre in Chesterfield and has begun recruitment for more than 200 new permanent jobs.
The new warehouse will be Amazon’s 21st in the UK, and is intended to help meet customer demand, expand selection, and enable small businesses selling on Amazon Marketplace to scale their businesses.
Amazon has been increasingly targeting small businesses in the UK and other markets as they help Amazon increase its product selection. Amazon said: ‘We are proud to empower hundreds of thousands of businesses - rural and urban – in every corner of the UK.
‘The ability to sell on Amazon alone creates 85,000 SME jobs here in Britain, and 60% of our UK sellers export, achieving £2.3bn exports in 2017.’
