‘A massive thank you’

It’s a big thumbs up for Stuart from the children at St. Brigid’s Primary School in Glasgow. And thank you too to the postman who rescued a pile of brand new abandoned toys and clothes on his round in Wharfdale, Otley, that were destined for a little girl’s third birthday.
Whether it’s ensuring a little boy received his fancy dress costume in time, returning a customer’s lost phone or simply going out of their way to be ‘pleasant, helpful and always smiling come whatever the weather,’ colleagues have been doing us proud. Below is just a small sample of the type of praise we receive every week.

‘A postman in Pool in Wharfedale came across a pile of brand new abandoned toys and clothes and paperwork on his rounds near Oakdale Drive. After looking at the paperwork, he saw my address in Otley and kindly brought everything to my door. It turns out these were my daughter’s third birthday presents from my family, which had been stolen from my dad’s car outside my house. The paperwork included my grandmother’s will and some important financial paperwork. I thanked the postman, but as I was in shock at the time, I didn’t catch his name or fully appreciate the fact that he had gone so far above and beyond. I very much hope this lovely man can be tracked down and my thanks passed on to him. My daughter would have been missing most of her presents if it wasn’t for this amazing postman. Thanks again. Absolute gentleman!’ – Ruth White

The team – Castle Bromwich Delivery Office
‘Please pass on my gratitude to the staff (especially the manager) at the Castle Bromwich sorting Office. There was an issue with the delivery of my son’s costume. The staff (especially the manager) went out of their way to ensure the parcel was delivered in time for him to wear – We have one happy boy. Again, a massive thank you for going out of your way to ensure it was delivered on time.’ – Stephanie Whyte

‘Our postman is brilliant and I would like to share some positive feedback. He’s really helpful, but he also goes beyond his duties. He’s noticed that I have two little ones and if he needs to knock on the door, he’ll try to get my attention through the window so he doesn’t have to knock and wake them up when they’re having a nap. He’s really thoughtful and I feel I need to acknowledge his work. He’s always pleasant and he really gives Royal Mail a good name’. – Laura Summerfield
Chris – Polegate Delivery Office
‘A massive thank you and compliment to Chris. My son lost his phone yesterday and luckily Chris found it abandoned on the side of the road. He switched it on, searched Mum/Dad on the contacts list and phoned to say he'd found it and needed an address to return it. He duly did. The phone is back in my son’s possession all thanks to Chris. He’s a real asset to Royal Mail, a valued member of staff. He really went the extra mile’. – Anthony Deragon
