Vote 100

Celebrating our amazing Royal Mail women – Lynne Stringer

Her personality, intellect and charm are just some of the reasons why group governance and planning manager, Lynne Stringer, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.

Assurance manager, Kathy Peck, from the Change Portfolio Centre of Excellence, said: ‘Lynne leads a superb team of portfolio analysts within the Centre of Excellence portfolio management office team.

‘There are few people who bring such panache in how they interact and build relationships. Lynne strives for excellence in all she does, which is evident from the high quality of work she and her team produce.

‘Portfolio analysis and reporting is not for the faint-hearted and there are times when others would tear their hair out in frustration, but not Lynne. She maintains her focus and professionalism and she always finds a way through.

‘Lynne has built an excellent reputation of someone who will always get things done. You only ever have to ask her once to consider it done.’

‘I joined Royal Mail in July 2013 as a programme support officer (PSO),’ said Lynne. ‘I was supporting Technology Projects and Programmes, but my baptism of fire within the business, came when I became the lead PSO on the Information Technology Service Transformation programme (better known as ITST) in 2014.

‘This was a huge undertaking for Royal Mail, moving the IT services estate from one supplier to four suppliers and it took all my tenacity, patience and resilience to keep the team on the straight and narrow when it came down to best working practices and programme governance.

‘In 2017, I moved into the Centre of Excellence Portfolio Management office (PMO) as the Group PMO lead. Although I had a new team who were spread around the country and had never worked together before, it didn’t take us long to find out how we worked best as individuals and best as a team.

‘I pride myself on ensuring that all my team have a great work/life balance as the job can be quite full-on at times. I couldn’t have got to where I am today without their hard work, dedication and support.

‘I’m really proud to work for Royal Mail, - it’s a very special place, with great people and diversity.’
