Vote 100

Her mentoring skills and tremendous work ethic are two reasons why Warrington delivery office manager Carole Brandreth, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
Crewe delivery line manager, David Whelan, said: ‘Carole is not only my line manager, she is also a fantastic mentor for many of us within the Cheshire and Merseyside sector.
‘Personally, she has helped me to develop as suitable cover for her former role as Crewe delivery office manager, teaching me valuable lessons, coaching me in my weaknesses and using my strengths and knowledge to assist others in trying to achieve what is best for the business.
‘All the hard work Carole put in at Crewe earned her a promotion to Warrington. She certainly left our office in Crewe in a solid position. We have currently underspent on both gross and work hours and we were one of the first offices to implement Indoor Working Methods (IWM). She is hugely missed, not just by myself, but the whole team.’
‘I am currently in my 37th year working for Royal Mail and over this time I’m proud to say that I have gained huge amounts of experience across a variety of roles within the operation,’ said Carole. ‘I believe I have played an integral part in leading the business through innovative and transformational changes in order to maintain and expand our position as the market-leading postal service.
‘I have managed large teams of people through adversity such as direct delivery competition and the vastly increasing parcels market to deliver top-end national scorecard performance. I am widely recognised as being a great motivator of people and I am myself motivated by the challenge of inspiring others to be the best they can be.
‘I have consistently participated in and led female-driven initiatives in the workplace such as pioneering women’s network groups, participating and leading the Springboard programme and personally mentoring a number of female colleagues with the purpose of addressing the challenge of gender balance that we continue to face in Royal Mail.
‘I am currently enjoying my latest new challenge as delivery office manager of Warrington mail processing unit. This unit is the biggest delivery unit in the directorate and performance is therefore critical.
‘I still enjoy every day like it was my first and I am extremely passionate and proud to work for this great business.’
