Socks office record

Thinking outside the socks in Trowbridge for World Down Syndrome Day

For the second consecutive year, colleagues at Trowbridge Delivery Office supported World Down Syndrome Day by buying and wearing pairs of brightly coloured mis-matched socks.

The team wore odd socks throughout the day while on their deliveries and collections and this year, they smashed their £241 2018 odd socks total by raising an incredible £440 for the Down’s Syndrome Association.

Particular praise must be lavished on Trowbridge postwoman, Anna Hemingway, who sold no less than 19 pairs to Westbury Ladies Rugby Club. Other willing customers included colleagues at Trowbridge Delivery Office, pupils at Devizes School, customers at Trowbridge Tesco, several of Wiltshire Police’s finest, and shire horses Sam and Max at Wadworth Brewery!

‘As you can see from the total raised, the team in Trowbridge were all on board in helping to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association,’ said early delivery office manager, Mark Perrett. ‘It was a wonderful sight to walk into the office and see everyone wearing their odd socks while sorting the mail and then going out on their deliveries and collections.

‘When customers asked why colleagues were wearing odd socks, we told them it was to make people aware of Down Syndrome, so we hope we made an impact and made more people aware of the charity.

‘It was a great effort by Trowbridge Delivery Office colleagues and we hope to support World Down Syndrome Awareness Day next year and in the future.’

People from all over the UK and overseas joined in on World Down Syndrome Day, which is celebrated every year on 21 March, by wearing colourful mis-matched socks to illustrate how it is fine to be different.
