Sing when you’re winning

Join the Mail Voice Choir at London’s Phoenix Centre on Tuesday 26 March

Colleagues, friends and family are all invited to join the Mail Voice Choir (MVC) for an evening of music, food and fun at the Phoenix Centre on Tuesday 26 March from 6pm – 8pm.

There will be a charity bar, raffle and performances by the MVC. Pizza and a glass of fizz are included in the £15 ticket price and proceeds from the evening will go to our charity partner, Action for Children.

Liz Greenwood, director Business IT, Parcelforce Worldwide, said: ‘You do not have to be able to read music to join the Mail Voice Choir. Just come along and see if you like it – there is no audition.

‘My voice has got better because of the coaching we get. It’s free tuition for individuals supported by Royal Mail Group because we do so much for charity. It’s a really supportive group of people, within a supportive organisation.’

Personal assistant, Lisa White, added: ‘We have a lot of postal songs in our repertoire – songs like Return to Sender, The Letter and Please Mr Postman. Darron Moore is our musical director and voice coach from the Royal Opera House. He’s just amazing and always brings out the best in us.

‘You will definitely end up a stronger singer if you join the choir. But apart from that, it’s just a different way of supporting charity. Instead of doing a 10k or abseiling, you sing. It’s a really good way of supporting a number of different charities throughout the year.’

Charities supported by the MVC include Action for Children, Missing People, the Rowland Hill Fund and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Business modelling consultant, Amy McQuillan, from the efficiency and costing team, said: ‘I’ve found the choir to be an amazingly supportive unit and really good for networking and meeting people across the different functions.

‘We’re hoping that this event at the Phoenix Centre will help us attract new members as well as raise money for Action for Children. Remember, friends and family are also welcome to join the choir, so please come along – and bring them too!’
