Turning those with a flair for mechanics and engineering into automotive experts

This week’s 12th annual National Apprenticeship Week, which runs until tomorrow, is a great opportunity to highlight the fantastic benefits that an apprenticeship brings to employers, individuals and the economy.

Our apprentices make a huge contribution across a number of areas, including engineering, project management, finance, HR and fleet vehicle maintenance.

Vehicle maintenance at Royal Mail isn’t what it used to be. Some 47,000 vehicles make our fleet one of the largest in the UK. To keep it running efficiently and effectively, we rely on our talented crew of vehicle technicians. Whether they're changing wheels or implementing aerodynamic design they keep up with our rapidly changing vehicle technology.

Do you want to work on all makes and models of vehicle for the general public and our business customers as well as our own fleet? As a Royal Mail Fleet apprentice, you'll service and repair light vehicles, including petrol, diesel and electric cars and vans, working on all the systems within the vehicle.

Day-to-day, you could be replacing simple parts and wheels or solving complex faults using diagnostic methods and equipment, learning everything there is to know on the job as you start out on a career path with great opportunities.

Over three years, our apprentice vehicle technicians learn through on-the-job and classroom training. We take those with a flair for mechanics and engineering, and turn them into automotive experts.
