‘We’re a fantastic brand’
Service delivery director - South, Ricky McAulay, hosted two town hall events at Medway Mail Centre.
Around 100 colleagues heard Ricky speak about the challenges the business faces and what we can all do to overcome them. Play the video above to find out what some of the colleagues - as well as hearing from Ricky himself – wanted to know about.
Ricky answered a number of questions on a range of topics, including technology and automation, preparing for the continued growth in parcels and offsetting the decline in letters, and our Later Acceptance Times offering.
‘In many ways we're doing brilliantly well on parcels,’ said Ricky. ‘Tracked volumes are growing every year. Young people today order three of one product and then send two back. That returns business is a huge opportunity for us because they have paid for the larger parcel and the returns product as well – it’s a really important revenue stream for us.
‘In regards to change - we have been through this successfully so many times. And we’ll do it again. It will involve significant changes along the way, but it’s all the things we have done in the past to be the amazing company we are today.’
Medway OPG, Anthony Allerhead, said: ‘It was a really good session as Ricky was very candid. It was refreshing to hear about automation and the investment happening there, which is really good.
‘We need to be more proactive than reacting to the competition in the marketplace, so I hope we can start getting ourselves ahead - that will be a major advantage.’
