Celebrating our amazing Royal Mail women – Charlotte Gala

Her leadership qualities and bubbly, supportive nature are reasons enough why night shift resource manager, Charlotte Gala, from Heathrow Worldwide distribution centre (HWDC), has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.

HWDC postman, Shane Brown, from the nights resource team, said: ‘Charlotte is ever the professional, communicating brilliantly on a daily and weekly basis in her Worktime Listening and Learning sessions in terms of what we need to do each day, and what we’re going to be doing in the next few weeks.

‘She is a fantastic support to her team and to the operations managers and their teams, and she will always try her hardest to help anyone with their queries or issues. If she doesn’t know the answers, she will do her best to try to find out or at the very least, point you in the right direction.

‘Charlotte always ensures that everyone is fully trained on how to complete their tasks. We have even received calls from her while she’s been away from the office on annual or sick leave, which just goes to show how important it is to her to ensure the shift runs smoothly in her absence.

‘She manages to always remain happy and bubbly and she has this amazing calming effect on people which I think, is a really special quality.’

‘I’m passionate about my job as I absolutely love it,’ said Charlotte. ‘Working nights can be daunting for some people - and women in particular. But I don’t make this a barrier to what I wish to achieve as a career woman. I have a positive approach towards my job and try to ensure that my team and I have a smile on our faces at the end of every shift.

‘I try to get involved in other extra-curricular activities like the Springboard programme and the Everywoman network, and encourage all my female colleagues to do the same. Working for Royal Mail in all the positions I have held over the past 14 years has given me a great sense of achievement and I am still looking for further challenges in my career.

‘I am hoping to mentor people in the near future and also rise to achieve a senior management position as I believe I can make a positive impact. I love my team, I love my job and I love Royal Mail as a business’.
