Her kind, funny nature and willingness to always help where she can, are just some of the reasons why Parcelforce regional commercial manager, Andrea Newport, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
David Ellison, Parcelforce International product and projects manager, said: ‘I have worked with Andrea both indirectly and directly for the last five years and she has always been a source of inspiration in terms of her knowledge, leadership skills and ability to cope with a large and varied team.
‘I think Andrea manages to balance a busy personal life with the needs of her team and her job better than anyone I’ve ever met. She is always approachable for advice on all manner of commercial and sales-related subjects, providing valuable insight for HQ to be able to tailor campaigns we know will be well received and adopted as a consequence.
‘Andrea is always very funny, which makes her really popular as a manager in her team. She has the confidence to deal with any situation - confidence that always puts both her team and colleagues at ease.’
Andrea joined Parcelforce Worldwide in 1998 as their first new business development manager, following a career working within the linen industry selling into hotels and restaurants.
‘I joined at a very difficult time for Parcelforce,’ said Andrea. ‘The business had moved away from non-guarantee services into timed, next day and global distribution. Customer expectations were high and they expected to get what they paid for.
‘My early days were successful in gaining new accounts due to the support of the local depots and experience within the sales teams. People genuinely wanted to help you succeed. I moved into managing the sales team and then onto regional team management and operational management. I’m now focussed on regional commercial growth for the West region.
‘I do try to maintain a healthy sense of humour. It can be really tough for everyone at times and I believe we need to keep everything in perspective and remember what we do well. I really enjoy working with my team - they really are fantastic.’
