Bringing you together

How Fleet’s Commercial team has been acting on colleague feedback

In the run up to this year’s employee survey, which opens on 25 February, we’re highlighting what teams across the business have been doing over the last year to help make Royal Mail an even better place to work.

Feedback from members of Royal Mail Fleet’s commercial team has been very positive in the last two employee surveys, but they did highlight that they wanted to improve their working relationships.

The team, which is based in Chesterfield, have been through a lot of change. They had been so focused on getting the work done that they hadn’t had an opportunity to grow as a team. So, they decided to add team-building activities to their employee survey action plan last year.

The team started with a pub quiz in Chesterfield in 2017, which was very successful. For 2018, the team were given the opportunity to vote for their preferred activity and selected footgolf.

Helen Athorn, customer service advisor, said: ‘These events are really great for networking with team members and managers that we would not see on a day-to-day basis. As most of the team is office-based, it really gives us something to look forward to and boosts morale to create a better working environment moving forward.’

Georgina Smith, customer service centre manager, added: ‘We pride ourselves on diversity and a community-like culture and these events are really important in bringing everyone together.’
