Vote 100

Her caring and supportive nature and knack for listening are just some of the reasons why safety health and environment strategic business partner, Emma Tranter, from Mansfield delivery office, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
Delivery manager, Hannah Blackwell, from Nottingham South delivery office, said: ‘When I read a Vote 100 article in Courier about colleagues with outstanding work ethics, support and mentoring skills, Emma instantly came to mind.
‘Emma cares about everyone. She will listen to anyone, no matter how busy she is, and she’s always there to support and guide colleagues with a smile on her face or on the end of the phone day or night and at weekends.
‘I know that when things get tough for Emma she knuckles down and gets on with the task at hand - which is ultimately to try and keep us all safe.
‘She inspires me to be a better person and manager and I would like to thank her for all her help and cups of coffee over the years when things have been tough. She is truly one in a million.’
‘I’ve worked for Royal Mail for more than 17 years now,’ said Emma, ‘and in those 17 years, I have seen a huge amount of change. But one thing that never changes is the resilience of the frontline management operation team. They amaze me with how they manage to multitask. Most of us are lucky enough to have one job with one subject to focus on. The operations managers and frontline colleagues have to focus on several things at once, safety being just one of them.
‘I think trust and respect are what makes any relationship work. Speak to people as you would want to be spoken to yourself, treat people fairly, and be nice. We all have lots of challenges in life and work and it sometimes feels like you have to be an expert juggler. Look out for your colleagues and always ask how people are no matter how busy you are yourself.
‘And finally, and most importantly, I’d like everyone to think safety while at work, good safety management makes a really big difference to the unit you work in and the people around you. No one ever comes into work with the intention of harming themselves but I’ve seen some life- changing injuries and the effects on the families of those injured people.
‘Slow down and make sure you go home to your families in the same way that you came into work this morning!’
