Toys and books galore

Colleagues in Croydon showed their generosity by donating more than 170 new toys and books for the children’s ward at Croydon University Hospital, in the lead-up to Christmas.
The idea came from Dionne Griffith and Kathy Honey, who have raised funds for the hospital previously, and worked extremely hard at ensuring the campaign was successful.
Plant manager, Bob Brady, from Croydon mail centre, said: ‘It was a great idea by Dionne and Kathy and really good to see the number of toys and books donated from the team here at Croydon, but especially rewarding to see the reaction from the children when the gifts were handed out.
‘Hopefully they went some way to making their stay in hospital over the Christmas period a little easier’.
Senior healthcare specialist at Croydon University Hospital, Geeta Luchun, said: ‘Together with us, the children and their families greatly appreciate the hard work and support provided by employees at Royal Mail Croydon.
‘There can be no joy as great as knowing you have uplifted, comforted our children and families on the ward and our long-term patients’.
The charitable giving doesn’t stop there as the team are now focused on more fundraising activities to support the refurbishment of the new integrated paediatric unit at Croydon University Hospital.
