The December issue

The final countdown is upon us as we approach the festive finishing line

The December issue of Courier will begin landing at homes from tomorrow.

In your final issue of 2018 we look at how our preparations for peak have been paying off across the network.

Across the pipeline, the hard work and dedication of colleagues is helping to deliver a memorable Christmas for millions of customers. With the festive finishing line in sight, we hear how some of our teams have risen to the occasion.

Many happy returns

Although most of our pre-Christmas deliveries are now complete, the work doesn’t stop there! We must keep our focus into the New Year, as the returns market represents a real growth area for us.

The returns peak begins with ‘Take-back Wednesday’ on 2 January 2019, when returns volumes are expected to more than double.

Also in the issue:

  • Online retailer Velocity Outlet has changed enormously in the past six years, growing from a tiny two-man start-up to a multi-million-pound business
  • Our Parcel Hub at Atherstone will have processed an estimated 82 million parcels by the end of this festive period
  • Andrew Shanley, from Coventry North delivery office, made the most important delivery of his life when his wife gave birth on their bathroom floor.

And finally, colleagues at Wallington delivery office have been providing students from nearby Carew Academy – a school for pupils aged between 7-18 with special educational needs - invaluable work experience alongside our postmen and women.
