All wrapped up in Nailsea

Colleagues at Nailsea delivery office have been busy fundraising for their local St Peter’s Hospice.
Nailsea postman, Phil Underhill’s wife, Karen, works in one of the Hospice’s charity shops, and together, they put together a special Royal Mail-themed window display.
‘There are more than 50 St Peters Hospice shops in and around the Bristol area,’ said Phil. ‘Each one was given the task to decorate their shop window for Christmas with the theme of "All wrapped up”.
‘Having been a ‘Christmas postie widow’ for 13 years, my wife Karen thought it would be a really nice idea to do the Nailsea shop window up in a Royal Mail theme, highlighting the hard work all us postmen and women do at our busiest time of the year.’
Phil said the display was done to illustrate how people still love to send Christmas cards. ‘The postbox is overflowing with letters, while the mail sacks are full of presents that the shop could sell plus they’re "all wrapped up" to keep with the chosen theme,’ he said.
‘To help raise money for the Hospice we are giving all Nailsea postmen and women a chance to have New Year’s Eve off by donating £5 each. Everyone will have their names put into a hat and each £5 entry gets five raffle tickets for the St. Peters Hospice Christmas raffle, which will be drawn on 17 December.
‘The top five prizes are as follows: first prize is £5,000, second prize is a mini spa break at Aztec Hotel & Spa, the third prize is a spa and dine for two package at Clifton Lido, the fourth prize is a driving experience course at Castle Coomb and finally, the fifth prize is a family pass for Bristol Zoo Gardens.
‘By donating just £5, each colleague is in with a chance of a day off, winning a prize and most importantly, supporting a local charity that does a fantastic job year after year!’
Nailsea delivery office manager, Kieron Lock, said: ‘It is great to see that there is still a very close link between Royal Mail and the wider community. This is again proven with Phil and Karen going over and above to help raise money for the patrons of St Peter’s Hospice’.
