Winning partnership

Royal Mail wins Royal Logistics Corps Foundation Regional Partnership Award

Royal Mail Group and British Forces Post Office (BFPO) have been awarded the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) Foundation Award for the Best Industry and Regional Partnership Programme.

The fourth annual RLC Foundation Awards dinner was held at the HQ officers’ mess at Deepcut on Wednesday 7 November.

Logistics operations director, Euan McMurdo, who collected the awards on behalf of the company, said: ‘These awards recognise our work with the BFPO across our joint Logistics and Distribution supply chain incorporating our commercial relationship with them.

‘We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with the BFPO and our continued support of the services not least through our 250 or so reservist colleagues’.

Euan was hosted by the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt General Sir Mark Poffley. Head of Elections & Political Parties, Rachel Winham, who heads up the relationship with BFPO, was hosted by Col. Andrew Moffat, who put Royal Mail forward for the award.

Enjoying a 210-year military/commercial alliance with BFPO, no organisation does more to sustain the morale of the Armed Forces than Royal Mail Group. Alongside BFPO we provide vital communication services to service personnel and their families, enabling them to stay in touch wherever they are serving.

‘Without our outstanding contribution to defence, BFPO would not be able to provide vital postal services to service personnel and their families,’ said Rachel. ‘The special relationship between Royal Mail Group and BFPO is based on close collaboration and is facilitated by the terms and conditions of the Forces Mail Settlement (FMS) which is an agreement between Royal Mail and the Ministry of Defence (MOD) which specifies mutual support and enduring cooperation.

‘This agreement is pivotal in ensuring service personnel and their families serving overseas, as well as those deployed on operations, have access to a postal service comparable to that offered in the UK and are not disadvantaged by their overseas service.

‘I am delighted that Royal Mail has won this prestigious award with such a special customer and a huge thank you goes out to all involved with the day to day running of this account and making this possible.’

Military reservists

Royal Mail actively supports colleagues who are reservists for the UK Armed Forces.

As a strong advocate of the Armed Forces Covenant, which was jointly signed by former CEO Moya Greene and then Secretary for Defence, Michael Fallon, in July 2015, we employ around 250 military reservists – one of the largest groups in the country – who combine working for us with protecting their country at home and overseas.

Our association with reservists stretches back into our 500-year history. We continue to do as much as we can to uphold this proud tradition of supporting Armed Forces personnel and their families, as well as those who have left the services.
