Vote 100

Her baking prowess and Yorkshire traits are both reasons why business solutions analyst, Kirsty Cross, from the parcels technology team has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
An anonymous colleague said: ‘While I have not worked directly in Kirsty’s team, I know that she started in the customer solutions team in Chesterfield where she became the youngest team leader.
‘I believe in her first couple of years she helped save the company a considerable amount of money. Moving to London she became a business solutions lead and has become a valuable member of her team.
‘Hard-working, driven but overall approachable are words that spring to mind when describing Kirsty. She has also helped with the apprentice business analysts, becoming an unofficial mentor to a number of colleagues, which has been a great help.
‘Kirsty is a typical northerner (hailing from Doncaster) in that she’s really friendly and loves to socialise. She is such a likable person and is always trying to bring her team together by organising nights out or events. She is always the first person on any invite lists to social events.
‘On Yorkshire day on 1 August, she endeavours to bring lots of treats in for people to sample from Yorkshire, as in her words, “all the best things come from Yorkshire.” She is a big baker and anyone in her team will be greeted into work on their birthday by a homemade cake baked by her.
‘Kirsty’s colleagues will all say how well liked she is and that’s not just because of all the cakes and treats she brings in!’
‘Due to its reputation amongst Post Office colleagues as a warm and nurturing place to work I started at Royal Mail at the tender age of 20,’ said Kirsty. ‘After more than five years in Technology I can certainly vouch for that sentiment.
‘Thanks to the amazing support I have received from my colleagues over the years in both training and daily support, I achieved my goal in becoming a business analyst. I love the opportunities this job brings, although sometimes extremely challenging, I get the opportunity to embrace some of the best (and worst) ideas Royal Mail has to offer and help make them a reality.
‘From the Estimated Delivery Windows, to the Lovetopost app, I have loved all the highs and lows and how we work together to get things done, even if those “getting things done” include demolishing the mountain of cake I brought in for a workshop!
‘In the years I have been here I am happy to say I’ve seen an increase in both young and female colleagues in Technology, proving that we are taking those extra steps to get fresh and exciting ideas into the tower. I think the continuation of this is vitally important to Royal Mail’s survival, and also because my social life and general happiness here has certainly improved as a result!
‘Thank you to everyone in Technology who continue to support my journey both in and out of work and a special shout out to those who saw a motivated youngster and gave me a chance, it will never be forgotten. By the way, Yorkshire rocks!’
