We have installed ‘singing’ postboxes in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast

As the nation prepares to post their annual Christmas cards, we have today introduced a selection of ‘singing’ postboxes across the UK, which serenade the user once a letter or card is posted.

Our first ever ‘singing’ postboxes will be installed in each of the UK’s capital cities with motion sensors fitted, which will trigger one of three festive-themed ditties, ranging from the sound of sleigh bells to a jolly season’s greeting from the big man himself, Father Christmas.

The postboxes are adorned with snowflakes and will be in place throughout the festive season.

UK Process operations director, Simon Barker, said: ‘Delivering Christmas is our absolute priority this December.

‘In the process, we enjoy any way we can adding a little extra fun to posting Christmas cards this year.’

The postboxes will be situated in the following locations.

  • London: Greenwich Promenade, King William Walk, London, SE10 9HT
  • Cardiff: 29 Queen Street, Cardiff, CF10 2AH
  • Belfast: 4 Wellington Place, Belfast, BT1 6GE
  • Edinburgh: 137-141 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SG - from tomorrow.

To beat the festive rush and ensure your letters and parcels arrive in time, we recommend that people send their Second Class post by 18 December, First Class post by 20 December and Special Deliveries by 22 December.
