Differently able

Today, Monday 3 December, is International Day of Persons with Disabilities, an annual international observance promoted by the United Nations, with the aim of empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.
Any one of us can become disabled in a second. Working together to promote disability confidence across the business and creating a culture that is sensitive to individual needs, appreciating that each of us is differently able, is important for all of us.
Disability can affect us in many ways, with some disabilities being less visible than others, although no less impactful.
At Royal Mail we appreciate and celebrate our diverse workforce. The Disability steering group is a network that promotes awareness of disability matters and works to enable and empower our colleagues with disabilities. We want everyone in Royal Mail to have the same opportunities for an enjoyable and rewarding career within this great company.
Royal Mail is a member of the Business Disability Forum and a Disability Confident employer. We appreciate the different experiences that many of our colleagues with disabilities have every day and we strive to create an inclusive work environment where we are all valued.

Making our business a place where colleagues with disabilities can achieve their potential remains a priority.
Our Disability steering group was established in 2014, with its key objective being to improve the experience of disabled colleagues at Royal Mail. Call our internal disability helpline on 0800 028 6142 for advice if you are a disabled employee or manager looking for support with organising reasonable adjustments.
For more information on how to obtain support from the group or if you would like advice on managing someone with a disability, please contact disabilitysteeringgroup@royalmail.com.
