Big night for Fleet

It was a memorable night for Royal Mail at the Commercial Fleet Awards, held on 29 November.
We were winners of the Private Sector Fleet of the Year. The judges commented: 'With size comes huge complexity but Royal Mail continues to rise to the challenge with lots of new initiatives looking at every facet of the fleet. Leading the way in electric vans and trucks, cost-saving innovation and compliance, Royal Mail continues to set the blueprint for fleet excellence.’
Jacob Kirk, shift supervisor at our West Midlands workshop, picked up Apprentice of the Year. Jacob is well regarded within Royal Mail Fleet and has progressed at a fast rate since graduating earlier this year. He stood out from all the apprentices on his programme for his enthusiasm, professionalism, maturity and initiative.
‘I’m over the moon to have won the Apprentice of the Year award,’ said Jacob. ‘I was really happy to be shortlisted, but to win, was fantastic. It was a great feeling to stand on stage and receive the award in front of my colleagues in Royal Mail Fleet as well as so many people from the industry.
‘I worked hard throughout my apprenticeship and I continue to do so now, so it was great to be recognised for all my hard work and progression.’
We also received a Highly Commended award in the category of Clean Air Champion.
Paul Gatti, Royal Mail Fleet director, said: 'This is another fantastic achievement in what is a long line of accolades for Royal Mail and Royal Mail Fleet. It’s clear that our work is highly regarded within the fleet industry and this is a reflection on the fantastic team we have, constantly striving to be the best and providing excellence to all our customers.
'I’m also particularly delighted that this year, one of our people has been recognised specifically. Jacob epitomises what this team is all about and it’s people like him that put us in the position of being at the forefront of fleet excellence. A well deserved award!'
