W-Mag lands tomorrow

The third issue of W-Mag, our magazine for female colleagues, will be landing at homes from tomorrow.
In your latest issue our two newest female plant managers, Poonam Bhalla and Kimberley McIntosh, from Nottingham and Mount Pleasant mail centres, share their experiences and their advice for new recruits.
Since joining Royal Mail in 2013, Kimberley has held a number of roles within operations, which in her words, has helped ‘deepen my understanding of the business strategy and how we individually and collectively contribute to our success.’
Poonam joined Royal Mail in October 2008 as a Royal Mail graduate. Her advice for new recruits includes: ‘Be true to yourself; don’t be scared of making mistakes, and most importantly, make every day a learning opportunity.’
Also in the issue:
- Our national women’s network event took place in London last month. The theme of the event, which was hosted by the Women’s steering group, was ‘maintaining our resilience’
- Head of resourcing and recruitment services, Alison Westwood, tells us how we make sure that the women we attract are clear on what the role entails
- We have now compiled more than 60 Vote 100 profiles of outstanding female colleagues who have been nominated by their peers for embodying our values, but we still need more!
And finally, for all the latest updates about everything the Women’s steering group are doing, plus information on events, and news from the Everywoman network, please join the group’s Facebook page.
