Vote 100

Her professionalism and dedication to her charity work are just two reasons why account manager Tracy Barnett MBE, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
Advanced customer advisor, Andy Adams, said: ‘I’ve worked with Tracy for three years now and have always found her an inspiration to both myself and Royal Mail.
‘Being a top 100 account manager, looking after the likes of Lloyds Banking Group and EDF Energy, Tracy is a true professional at work. Account managers usually manage their relationships with clients leading from the front. But from day one, Tracy has done everything she can to allow me to learn the ropes and take control when she’s been absent. She is a credit to the business.
‘On a personal level, Tracy does so much amazing charitable work. She’s even been recognised by the Queen and received an MBE for her dedication. She currently spends a lot of time in Gambia, where she has been helping to build a local school and medical centre. She also takes volunteers over to Gambia from the UK on a yearly basis to assist with building work, and other charitable projects.
‘In short, Tracy is a brilliant ambassador for Royal Mail.’
Tracy joined the company 22 years ago as a sales advisor in the Tonbridge office. She has since held a number of roles within the sales environment. She is the co-founder and chairperson of the Building and Assisting Communities with Education (BACE) charity, supporting villagers in rural Gambia, West Africa.
‘I feel very honoured and humbled to receive this nomination from Andy, who is an absolute star to work with,’ said Tracy. ‘Having left school at a very young age with no qualifications, I was given an opportunity to work in the post room of a large engineering firm, where the CEO’s PA was given the unfortunate, or fortunate task, to mentor me!
‘From the outset this amazing lady believed in me and gave me the opportunities each day to have a go and learn new things. She pushed me forward way out of my confidence zone and encouraged me to develop and grow. This wonderful lady is still today, 35 years later, my oldest, dearest friend and mentor.
‘I have been very fortunate to have had the most amazing line managers and mentors throughout the time I have been here, and the support and encouragement I have received has been brilliant. At times, life has been challenging being a full-time working mum with tough sales targets to achieve each year, but I strongly believe that working as a team, supporting each other and utilising all the support around you is the only way to reach yours, the company’s and your family’s goals.
‘When you work as a team you share both the pain and the glory. You share the learning and the experience, and you share friendship. What I love most about the job is having the opportunity to watch others develop, learn and grow, and I feel privileged to work with so many great motivated people who just want to do a great job.
‘The direct and indirect training within Royal Mail has been outstanding and enabled me to continue to grow in confidence. One of the courses sponsored by Royal Mail was run by Michael Finnigan, the founder of i2iHQ Ltd. This course inspired me to set up BACE with friends in West Africa. Building and running a nursery school and medical clinic has always been about teamwork, and provides many people the experience to step out of their comfort zone, take on new challenges, develop themselves and think outside the box.
‘I have been involved with the Springboard workshops and recommend and encourage this for all women within Royal Mail. I am always proud to say that I work for Royal Mail and it is an absolute honour to be recognised by my colleagues and team member in the Vote 100 campaign.’
