Vote 100

Her ability to mentor team members and encourage them out of their comfort zones is just one reason why transformation manager, Lisa Street, from revenue protection, has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.
Revenue productivity manager, Chris Burke, from Jubilee mail centre, said: ‘On a personal level, I’ve known Lisa for nearly 10 years through working in revenue protection. In that period, she has always made time to help and support myself and other colleagues within the business when required.
‘I moved to the revenue protection finance team around four years ago, which gave me the opportunity to work closer with Lisa. She nominated me and other colleagues within the team to go on a ‘lean practitioner’ course to help us develop our skills, both in our personal lives, and to benefit the business.’
Lisa joined the business 33 years ago and started off counting coins in the remittance unit in Croydon for distribution to Post Office branches. When she was promoted to a counter clerk position, she ran the Thornton Heath branch before moving to Royal Mail.
She joined the credit management team at Croydon and ran the South East area credit team. After moving to sales and marketing, initially as a contract manager, she then moved into product development before returning to revenue protection to look at transformation opportunities.
‘I’m flattered to have been recognised in the Vote 100 campaign as there are so many great women in Royal Mail now,’ said Lisa.
‘I only joined Royal Mail as a temporary job while I looked around, and also because my headmistress laughed when I mentioned I might apply. How naïve! I’m still here 33 years later. Royal Mail offered me lots of opportunity for personal development, working in a variety of roles across the businesses as a Post Office counter clerk, before moving into marketing and operations.
‘My passion though, has to be revenue protection. In reality, a fantastic but small team who rely heavily on the entire operation having revenue at the heart of everything they do. There’s no doubt that we are behind the competition where revenue protection is concerned, but it’s exciting and challenging in equal measures as we close the gap and start to use PDA technology, revenue dashboards and parcel technologies to really understand who our customers are and how they behave.’
