Simple actions save lives

On Friday 28 September, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck just off the central Indonesian island of Sulawesi, causing a tsunami to engulf the coastal city of Palu.
The scale of the devastation across the island is massive with thousands of buildings and homes having been washed away.
In response, the British Red Cross has launched an Indonesia earthquake and tsunami appeal.
The number of people known to have died has risen to at least 1,400. Thousands have lost their livelihoods and the Red Cross estimates that more than 600,000 people across the province could be affected.
Critical supplies for survivors - who have no access to running water or electricity - like clean water and food, are already running low while many are in need of urgent medical care and shelter. The Red Cross is providing vital relief items across the affected areas, distributing food, water, blankets and the materials needed for shelter.
This terrifying disaster is yet another blow to the people of Indonesia, who are still recovering from another large earthquake which shook the country in August.
The Red Cross is doing all they can to reach those who require help as quickly as possible, but they need our support. If you would like to donate to support families who have lost everything in this tragedy, please click here.
Thank you for your continued support.
