Isotrak can give crucial routing information to both drivers and traffic office teams

Colleagues have praised the impact of Isotrak – the telemetry system we use in our LGV fleet.

The system measures driving behaviours, as well as holding valuable road service listings that can give crucial routing information to both our drivers and traffic office teams.

There is the ability to track our vehicles in real-time and display live estimated arrival times (ETAs) against the scheduled duty times. It is mainly being used within national distribution but we’ve also been trialling this in three mail centres – Leeds, Preston and Swindon.

Each of these mail centres have large ‘arrivals boards’, allowing them to see what’s running late due to road issues, and to make any shift adjustments as a result.

Lisa Durrant, head of performance and efficiency, said: ‘This is a great example of how we can work together across the pipeline to make sure we maintain our quality and meet our customers’ expectations.’

Nadeem Rana, late shift manager at Swindon mail centre, said: ‘In Swindon, the boards are used by the work area, warehouse and shift managers. It’s useful for late and night shifts as both are processing inward mail. It allows us to assess the movement of colleagues based on the ETA of vehicles, so can make resourcing and operational decisions straight away.'

If the trial is a success, the system could be rolled out nationally.
