Postie of the Year?

For 20 years Graham Woodruff has served the communities of West Yorkshire.

Based at Slaithwaite delivery office he is an indispensable colleague who team members, including his managers, turn to if they need advice.

So when he suffered a stroke while on delivery, it was a blow to his colleagues.

Thankfully he made a full recovery and returned to his round in the summer to continue his ‘outstanding’ work.

He has since further strengthened the fantastic relationship he has with his customers.

On hearing he’d been nominated for Postie of the Year, Graham said: ‘You see the Chairman’s Awards in Courier but you don’t think it’s going to happen to you.

'It’s a nice thing to be part of and I would be more than pleased to win it.

‘I have enjoyed every minute of working for Royal Mail. Once you get out on your round you’re meeting the public and get to know them really well. I love my job.’

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 18 October.
