Royal Mail helping to achieve a sustainable future

Royal Mail was joined by organisations including Amazon and PwC leading the wave of ‘Mission Possible’ pledges made for Green GB Week.

The Government's landmark Green GB Week, took place this week to raise awareness of how clean growth is helping to provide new job opportunities, grow our economy, help tackle climate change, and educate people and businesses as to how they can get involved in building a cleaner, greener future.

Royal Mail was joined by more than 30 businesses from across the country who announced an array of sustainability commitments on edie’s Mission Possible Pledge Wall, taking the number of pledges that have been submitted through the Mission Possible campaign so far, to 50.

The Mission Possible Pledge Wall showcases the growing list of sustainable business commitments being made under the five campaign pillars of Energy, Resources, Mobility, The Built Environment and Business Leadership.

Our Mission Possible pledge stated: ‘We commit to investing in existing and new technologies and trialling low or zero-emission vehicles, to reduce our emissions by 20% by 2020–21, against a 2004-05 baseline.’

This forms part of our wider environment strategy to drive continuous improvement throughout our operations. With around 100 fully-electric delivery vans in use around the country – the future is green for Royal Mail!

Kristin Hughes, head of CR and CI, said: ‘We’re proud of the great progress we have already made at Royal Mail. This is just the beginning of the journey. Now, the emphasis must be on collaborating, innovating, and turning these ambitions into actions.’
