HGV Driver of the Year

Dedicated Jeanette MacAndrew, who takes her duties beyond her late shift at Heathrow Worldwide distribution centre, has been nominated for HGV Driver of the Year in this year’s Chairman’s Awards for Excellence.

Jeanette has been heavily involved in a local road safety campaign called ‘Bikes, Big Trucks and You,’ targeting children aged 11-15 often walking to school independently.

‘Going out to schools was a brilliant experience, you could see some of the children were really surprised by some of the information we had and got a lot out of the experience,’ she said.

‘I was happy to get involved and it’s helped me stay focused. I’ve always liked driving and do my best to set high standards.

‘I’ve been with Royal Mail for more than eight years now and still really enjoy what I do. It feels great to be recognised by my colleagues, that’s a nice bonus.’

Jeanette’s manager, Danny Driver added: ‘Jeanette’s an absolute credit to the team. I’m delighted she’s been recognised as it’s a nomination she deserves.’

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 18 October.
