Big hearted ride

Last month, MGV driver Andrew Tobin swapped his van for a saddle when he took part in the prestigious Deloitte Ride Across Britain (RAB) event, a 980-mile cycle challenge over nine days, from Land’s End to John O’ Groats.
Andrew, who is based at Aberdeen mail centre, raised more than £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
It’s a cause he is particularly passionate about as, a few years ago, he discovered he had been living with ‘Atrial Septal Defect’, otherwise known as a ‘hole in the heart’, which has fortunately since been successfully treated.
Following the challenge, Andrew said: ‘Through this journey I saw some amazingly beautiful countryside, often hidden away off the beaten track while travelling through England, Wales and Scotland.
‘This was the most challenging event I had ever participated in, testing yourself both physically and psychologically by cycling more than 100 miles a day, every day for nine days. It’s only when you push yourself to the limits of your ability, that you begin to realise what is possible and how much more is in you.’
