What are you waiting for?
Byte Night is the UK’s largest corporate sleep out event, with individuals and teams from the technology and business services sleeping out to raise vital funds to prevent youth homelessness.
It all began in 1998 when 30 individuals slept out in London and raised £35,000. Since then, Byte Night has grown to 12 events and last year, more than 1,500 people slept out in aid of our charity partner, Action for Children.
Byte Night is one of the UK’s top 20 mass participation charity events and has raised more than £10 million since the first event. This year, Byte Night is taking place on Friday 5 October, across 12 locations within the UK.
Everyone who takes part will be helping to prevent youth homelessness. The money you raise means that thousands of young people will be able to have a safe place to call home. Your support will also allow Action for Children to continue to help thousands of young people build better lives by providing essential support, accommodation, education and training.
This year, our director of sales and channels, Graham Davis, joins Action for Children’s Byte Night Board as national chair of the event. Action for Children approached Graham because of our joint partnership, which funds the Blues Programme, a preventative course aimed at people aged 13-19 years-old who are suffering from, or who are at risk of developing, a mental health disorder.
‘You may not be aware, but there is a strong link between mental health and homelessness,’ said Graham. ‘One in four young homeless people are suffering from a diagnosed mental health condition.
‘This clearly illustrates the devastating impact poor mental health can have on their lives and how poor mental health is part and parcel of the reason so many young people become homeless. Hopefully, the funds raised will have a tremendous impact.’
Graham will be sleeping out in Birmingham for his first Byte Night this Friday. With colleagues already confirmed in London and Cardiff too, why not join him and sign up to your nearest Byte Night event to help give young people a safe and happy future.
