Vote 100

Celebrating our amazing Royal Mail women – Rekha Belfon

Her ability to empathise, mentor and explain things in a way others can’t are just a few reasons why postwoman Rekha Belfon from South Midlands mail centre has been nominated for our Vote 100 campaign.

Anna Redmond, work area manager at South Midlands mail centre, said: ‘Rekha has been in the business as a part-time processing and machine operator for 30 years and is a great example of what we want our coaches and listeners to be.

‘As one of the very first workplace coaches we trained, Rekha is very passionate about the role she plays and encourages everyone she either works or trains with to fully engage in their roles.

‘We like to ask Rekha to mentor new recruits as she has such a great way of making people feel valued and wanted. Her personality shines through whenever you see her and no matter what the situation is she always has a positive outlook on life in general. Colleagues and managers alike all adore her.

‘Rekha always has some much time and patience and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. I’ve seen the way in which she engages with people and I’m always impressed with how she can explain things in a way others can’t.

‘Feedback from colleagues about Rekha has always been so positive. She has such a great sense of empathy. Rekha really is a very deserving candidate for our top 100 women.’

‘I feel greatly honoured and privileged to be put forward for this campaign,’ said Rekha. ‘I have worked for Royal Mail for 29 years now which just goes to show much I enjoy working here.

‘Being both a coach and a listener is a great honour. Being there to help someone is so rewarding. We’ve all been in that position of either starting in a new job when everyone but you seems to know what they are doing, or being in a position to help a good friend who needs you. This is why I think being a workplace listener is so great. For someone to be able to put their trust in you is a wonderful feeling, as is knowing that you can offer them some advice or point them in the right direction.

‘I have built some great relationships over the years at Royal Mail. It’s great to see people reach their full potential and be part of such a great company.’
