Movement for change

We have announced a Commemorative Sheet to mark the work carried out by United for Wildlife ahead of an international conference on the illegal wildlife trade to be held in London on 11-12 October.
The Commemorative Sheet features 10 existing 1st Class Wax Seal stamps alongside images of endangered wildlife.
United for Wildlife was created by The Royal Foundation and is led by The Duke of Cambridge. It brings together the world’s wildlife charities along with the private sector, under a common purpose – to combat the illegal trade in wildlife.
The organisation is committed to:
- Better on-site protection for wildlife
- Reducing demand for illegal wildlife products
- Improving law enforcement
- Working with the private sector to reduce trafficking
- Engaging young people with conservation issues.
In 2014, United for Wildlife created a Transport Taskforce. Consisting of leaders from the global transportation industry, its purpose is to identify opportunities to break the illegal wildlife trade chain between suppliers and consumers.
Royal Mail is a member of this taskforce and works with enforcement agencies – UK Border Force and the Metropolitan Police – as well as global members of the taskforce, to support actions to prevent wildlife trafficking.
The sheet was announced to coincide with the visit by HRH The Duke of Cambridge to our International Logistics Centre (ILC). Accompanied by our Group CEO, Rico Back, His Royal Highness witnessed the work undertaken by Royal Mail, UK Border Force and the Metropolitan Police, to detect and disrupt the trafficking of wildlife products.
The Duke was joined by Lord Hague of Richmond, who leads The United for Wildlife International Taskforce on the Transportation of Illegal Wildlife Products.
The stamp sheet is only available from www.royalmail.com/wildlife and is priced £15.95. It can be pre-ordered now and is on general sale from 10 October.
