More than a celebration

Bi Visibility Day – Sunday 23 September

Bi Visibility Day is celebrated every year on 23 September and this year, we want everyone to be a part of it!

Royal Mail Group will mark the day by flying the bisexual flag over our head offices in Farringdon, London. And our LGBT+ & Friends steering group will be sharing stories from bisexual colleagues and their allies.

It’s more than a celebration

Bi Visibility Day celebrates one of the most invisible parts of the LGBT+ community. Often misrepresented, people who are attracted to both men and women can face stigma from both within the LGBT+ community and from wider society. This is known as biphobia.

Despite the work that the LGBT+ & Friends steering group has undertaken over the past few years, openly bisexual colleagues still remain underrepresented.

Content production manager, Julia Casson, said: ‘Let’s make the B in LGBT+ shine! Our network will be teaming up with charity group Bi Pride UK to try to make the steering group more accessible for all members of the LGBT+ community.

‘The 2018 Employee Survey results show that we have just under a thousand bisexual people working across Royal Mail Group. We want to make a stand for this community. Help us have the right conversations, engage with and raise the profile of bisexual colleagues and bisexual issues, and help us build our strategy.’
