Coast to coast

A Bristol driver swapped his HGV for handlebars when he cycled 970 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats - the furthest possible distance in the British Isles.
James Legg, from South West distribution centre, finished the epic challenge in 11 and a half days, raising more than £1,400 for Prostate Cancer UK.
The arduous journey, which runs the length of mainland Britain, saw James pass through some of the most stunning and remote countryside in the UK.
Starting at Land’s End on the south-westerly tip of England, James pedalled his way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor before heading north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into Scotland, via lochs and the Highlands to the North Coast and John O’Groats.
‘One man dies of prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK, which I find unacceptable in this day and age,’ he said.
‘For the first time, prostate cancer deaths have now overtaken breast cancer deaths in the UK, making the disease the third biggest cancer killer in the UK.
‘Ignoring prostate cancer won't beat it. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.’
