For all those who have travelled on the motorways recently you will know it is undergoing huge investment, especially the M1, M6 and A1.

While the improvements will be good news for us all in the long term, it has caused significant challenges since the start of the year when moving mail across our network.

Major roadworks and road closures are normally planned after 10pm to have the least impact on drivers.

For us, this is one of our busiest times, when we are moving premium products (Tracked 24 and Special Delivery) and First Class between the mail centres for next day delivery.

Logistics, Process and our quality teams have been working together to make sure the impact on our customers is minimised.

They’ve made changes to our network – adding in additional HGV services, changing routes between mail centres and bringing mail centre colleagues in at different times to sort later arriving mail.

Well done to everyone involved – this is a great example of being part of it and making a difference to our customers.
