It is important that all operational colleagues complete their manual handling training.

In the last financial year, colleagues suffered 445 accidents as a result of lifting and handling incidents, with the lifting and handling of parcels the most common cause of these accidents. 

A new manual handling film was launched in May to help educate and eradicate these accidents. It covers the full range of manual handling activities completed within Royal Mail Letters.

The film is available on content on demand. Managers can also access the training here. Managers can use the facilitation notes to pause the film where appropriate to encourage discussion and debate.

The notes include a sign on sheet in Appendix A to be used to record the training. Please keep the original copy at the local office and send a legible scanned/photographed copy of the record sheet and also a list of the names and pay numbers in a Word or Excel document to hrsclearningservices@royalmail.com. 

All operational colleagues must be trained using the film by the end of August.
