Your city. Your Pride

With just five days to go before this weekend’s Pride festivals in Belfast and Leeds, colleagues up and down the country are getting ready to celebrate.
This year the theme for Belfast Pride is ‘Come Out for Change’. Belfast Pride was founded in 1991 in a spirit of activism by pioneers who defied attitudes that said they couldn’t have a Pride in Belfast.
In 1991, 100 brave people marched in Belfast Pride to show that the city could have a Pride and that they didn’t want to be treated as second-class citizens.
This year, for the first time in Belfast, we have a newly liveried hard sided 17.5 tonne vehicle which we will be using as our float in the parade. In addition, pictured below is a sneak peak of the brand new Pride-themed Parcelforce van which will be making its debut appearance at Leeds.

Leeds Pride - Yorkshire's biggest celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and Trans* life takes place this Sunday 5 August. Billed as the UK’s friendliest Pride, Leeds Pride is the city’s largest one day free event, seeing more than 40,000 people attend last year alone.
As one of the UK’s largest employers, we are committed to putting equality and diversity at the heart of our business. This year, as well as taking part in the Pride in London parade and UK Black Pride we will also be attending Pride events in Belfast and Leeds.
All Royal Mail colleagues and their friends and family are invited to celebrate the below Pride events on behalf of the company:
- Belfast – 4 August
- Leeds – 5 August
