Ops Fundraising Challenge double winners Parcelforce proud of their efforts

Participants in this year’s Ops Fundraising Challenge raised an incredible total of £378,000 for our charity partner, Action for Children, including matched funding.

Our winners

Parcelforce, winners – Team that raised the most money per head and team with the biggest per head increase.

Gary Simpson, Parcelforce Worldwide managing director, said: ‘I am so proud of the efforts that everyone at Parcelforce has put into raising such a fantastic amount of money for Action for Children.

‘Our people gave up their own time to achieve this and we had such diverse fundraising ideas, from abseiling to tuck shops.’

Logistics & International – Logistics assets, containers and special events team – Winner, most outstanding local team.

Dave Dunn, head of special events and assets, said: ‘I am extremely proud of my team and the excellent commitment to raising money for Action for Children.

‘The team completed a wide range of activities, from the extremes of coasteering and cycling from Newcastle to Edinburgh, to duck races, work quizzes and World Cup predictions.

‘This was all achieved by everyone having a single-minded determination to achieve the best for our charity partners.’

James Meadows, Chelmsford delivery office  – Winner, most original fundraising Idea:

‘I was completely shocked when I knew I’d won. I used to race circuits so the idea of a “destruction derby” appealed to the adrenaline junkie in me,’ said James. ‘The event was at Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich.

‘Lots of cars were completely annihilated. The racing is brutal, unforgiving and about as far removed from the offices of Royal Mail as you can get.’

Tim Hyde, Medway mail centre – joint winner, most outstanding individual:

‘I was surprised when I heard about the award,’ said Tim. ‘I work with so many generous people at Royal Mail that I felt very humbled.

‘We put on a ten-pin bowling event, an International Women’s Day raffle, and a sponsored swim covering the equivalent length of the English Channel. It was an absolute blast. Bring on the next one!’

Inderjit Dhesi, Heathrow Worldwide distribution centre  – Joint winner, most outstanding individual:

‘It’s really nice to win, but I am very happy that I have raised money to help children,’ said Inderjit. ‘I raised £4,000 in total. As well as having a workplace food sale, I held a dinner dance for work colleagues with £7 from each ticket raised going towards Action for Children.’
