Meet the green fleet

Almost 100 electric vans have now been rolled out to delivery offices

The introduction of our first new electric vans to delivery offices is proving popular with colleagues.

Almost 100 vans have now been rolled out to delivery offices, with initial driver training completed at most units. Electric charging points have been installed at 17 delivery offices across the UK.

Among the first offices to receive the new vans were the Edinburgh Dell and Belfast delivery offices.

Alex Liston, delivery office manager at Edinburgh Dell, said his team were ‘champing at the bit’ to go out on the road with the new vans.

‘It shows how serious we are about reducing our carbon footprint. In a heavily populated city such as Edinburgh, that’s really important,’ he added.

Desmond Barry Johnston, a postman at Belfast, said he prefers driving the electric vans to the old vehicles.

‘They are more comfortable and there is more room at the back. As soon as you get used to them it’s really easy, I’ve found them brilliant,’ he said.

Rory Cubert, Belfast’s delivery office manager, added that he hopes eventually his entire fleet will be electric.

‘That will save thousands and thousands of pounds in terms of fuel – and we’ll be doing a great service to the environment,’ he said.
