Meet and greet success

Colleagues say they feel better supported and able to resolve issues much faster after the introduction of a new ‘meet and greet’ process at Doncaster mail processing unit (MPU).
The scheme means manager Sarah Currigan, who has led and developed the new process, welcomes every colleague back to the unit after they have completed their round.
She then uses their PDA to check every drop on their round was completed, as well as recording any overtime and responding to any questions they have.
‘It’s nice to have a bit of a conversation with people after they finish their round and it’s obvious they appreciate someone being here,’ said Sarah.
‘At Christmas, during the busy period, I was waiting until everyone finished – no matter what time it was. It showed them all their hard work was appreciated.’
Sarah is also able to check all collections have been scanned and the mail returned.
Postman Stuart Boswell said: ‘If anyone’s got a problem they can report it straight away and it gets sorted out. In the past, you might have forgotten the details before you were able to speak to a manager about it.
‘If you deliver hundreds of parcels in a day it is likely you will quickly forget about that one that caused you a problem.’
