Two weeks to go!

Pride in London 2018: Sign up today if you haven’t already booked your place

There are just two weeks to go before Pride in London 2018 and Black Pride London so if you haven’t already signed up please do so today.

Colleagues from across the country celebrated the annual Edinburgh Pride parade – the Pride Scotia, on Saturday 16 June.

Project manager Fiona Kinnear, from Edinburgh mail centre, said: ‘Being part of the Pride event in Edinburgh was a fantastic privilege on two levels. Firstly, to be involved in the celebration with friends and colleagues, and secondly, as a Royal Mail employee, showcasing the business for customers to be able to see just how diverse and inclusive Royal Mail is.

‘It was great to see so many colleagues supporting the event and joining in with the fun. Despite the traditional Scottish wet weather, it was a great day and we hope to see our float at next year’s event.’

Operations manager Alex Morrison, from Edinburgh West delivery office, said: ‘We were so delighted to be asked to attend and support this year’s Pride event in Edinburgh. It is vital to our people that we visibly demonstrate through our actions our commitment to inclusivity and diversity throughout the year and attendance at this year’s Pride represented a major step forward in this area.

‘We are completely committed to having a strong LGBT presence across the Royal Mail community in Edinburgh and Scotland and it was brilliant to see so many colleagues, family and friends attend the event under the Royal Mail banner.’

Plant improvement manager Martyn Dundas, from Edinburgh mail centre, said: ‘My partner and I attended our first Pride event thanks to Royal Mail. We had spoken at length this year about how we can support our LGBTQ+ friends and this was a way we could show our love for, not just our friends, but the whole community.

‘In the current climate it’s not enough for us just to talk about rights for the LGBTQ+ community, we have to show up and make it clear that professionally and personally; “you will always be accepted”’.
