Sports foundation grant helps Brian keep his vintage Suzuki in race condition

Motorcyclist Brian Mateer is looking forward to continuing his 28-year racing career thanks to the Royal Mail Sports Foundation.
The shift supervisor at Newtonabbey’s fleet workshop, who recently celebrated 30 years of service, has won a host of trophies over the years, including the Manx Grand Prix held on the Isle of Man.
A recent grant of £500 is helping him keep his 1966 Suzuki T20 in race condition for the season.
A mechanic by trade, Brian said: ‘I enjoy being in the garage prepping the bike as much as I do riding, which is just as well because the bike needs a lot of maintenance.
‘You can’t buy parts, you have to make them.’
