Prescriptions in the post

Echo up and running thanks ‘to the strength of our final mile delivery’

A pioneering postal repeat prescription service is ensuring people get the medicines they need on time, while cutting back on wastage.

And we are playing our part in its success. Echo is a smartphone app through which people can order prescriptions. An electronic request is forwarded to a patient’s GP and dispatched by Echo direct to their door, using our services.

The app reminds users how to take their medication and when to order a repeat, helping to reduce wastage and save the NHS money.

The team behind Echo say it chose to use Royal Mail for deliveries due to our reputation and the strength of our final mile delivery.

‘Everyone can associate with Royal Mail,’ said Edward Salmon, Echo’s senior operating manager. ‘They know and trust their local postman and woman and we like that.

‘Also, with the network of distribution hubs it was the easiest and most affordable way to get up and running.’
