Path to progress

We are making a significant investment in technology and changes to our pipeline. The market is changing rapidly, and if we are to maintain our position as the number one mail operator, we must change too.
We want to change the culture of our business and create a balanced workload. We also want Royal Mail to be a place all colleagues are proud of and happy to work for.
There are some exciting changes currently in progress, and we’re working with the CWU to drive these forward. Below are some highlights:
Professionalising area distribution (PAD)
We continue to jointly progress the few outstanding PAD revisions from last year. We are working together on PAD revisions for the current year and local working groups are in place to support this.
Network review
Local discussions on data and duties continue to be reviewed. The team has been working closely with the CWU on how the review will address later acceptance times and the shorter working week.
Fleet working group
Royal Mail Fleet and the CWU have begun negotiations on Appendix A within the negotiators’ agreement.
Matters under discussion include remuneration, standardisation and flexibility, and career path and upskilling opportunities.
Both parties remain committed to meeting regularly to progress discussions.
Working together
We have made substantial progress with the CWU, with some crucial conversations ongoing, including on Collection Hub Optimisation (CHO) and postbox strategy.
The alignment and collaborative working between Royal Mail and the CWU are vital in strengthening our position as a market leader, and we’re committed to continuing to work together.
