Postwoman Melanie Armitage from Mold delivery office retained her title at the 31st Royal Mail National Darts Championships.
The competition, which is held each year and is open to all postmen and women in the UK and Ireland, took place at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.
‘I’ve always been keen on darts and have been playing for over 30 years,’ said Melanie. ‘So when I joined Royal Mail I was pleased to find out that there was a Royal Mail National Darts Competition held every year.
‘I have been runner-up too many times to mention but I won for the first time last year in Manchester on Royal Mail’s 30th anniversary of the competition.
‘I was even more chuffed to regain my title this year at Liverpool. Now my goal is to get a hat-trick at Bournemouth next year.’
Sky Sports commentator John Gwynne refereed the competition and was the MC at the gala presentation dinner, while special guest, former Merseyside and England international darts player Kevin Kenny presented the trophies at the post-dinner awards presentation.
