Community spirit

Kind-hearted colleagues at our Dalkeith delivery office in Edinburgh have been thanked by an elderly lady after they raised more than £100 for her when her purse was stolen.
Disabled pensioner Edith Durie was the victim of a distraction theft that left her badly shaken.
Dalkeith delivery office manager Christopher Barclay and his team first realised there had been some trouble when they saw police cars outside the nearby chemist.
When they read an account of the robbery on Facebook, the team got in touch with Edith’s daughter. They then organised a collection and took Edith some flowers.
‘I’m proud of my team,’ said Christopher. ‘The community spirit here is massive because our postmen and women are local. It could have been anyone’s gran, mum or sister.
‘We were pleased to give something back.’
