- Initiating a discussion about your health with your line manager can be difficult.
- To start this step, you may want to ask your CWU rep or a trusted colleague to accompany you.
- Try to speak with your line manager at a quieter part of the day and arrange to have a discussion away from the operational floor, in a private room, to allow you to speak freely. Again, you may wish to make arrangements to take your CWU rep or a colleague with you for support.
- Prior to the session, ensure that you have made some brief notes as to what you need to discuss, any outcomes you would like to see including any consideration of as to how these outcomes may work in practice.
- You made need to arrange follow-up sessions to discuss/review any changes.
- You may wish to contact the Employee Assistance Programme to help you to prepare for these discussions. This is available 24/7 offering free and confidential support. You can contact them on 0345 266 5060
