Speak Up
Royal Mail is committed to conducting business to the highest standards of honesty, integrity and openness. If you have a concern about something you can raise it through our independent and confidential whistleblowing facility, Speak Up.
We are now using a new external industry-leading whistleblowing services provider, Safecall, to deliver our Speak Up service for employees at Royal Mail.
Here are the Speak Up contact details:
- Call the Speak Up helpline on 0800 090 3154 – available 24/7, 365 days a year
- Visit https://www.safecall.co.uk/royalmail/ and make a web report – web reporting is available 24/7, 365 days a year.
What is whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is the disclosure by an employee of serious malpractice, misconduct, dishonest or illegal activity of any individual or external body in Royal Mail Group. Anyone can raise a concern about a wrongdoing they consider has taken place, is currently taking place, or is likely to take place in their unit or across the business.
What is Speak Up?
We all have a duty to guard against wrongdoing, and to take care that we do not expose colleagues or company property to criminal activities, or by failing to comply with correct procedures, by raising concerns at the earliest possible opportunity.
Through Speak Up, you can use your voice to safely report wrongdoing.
Speak Up allows us to protect our people and our brand, build trust and confidence within our organisation but also with our customers and our regulators.
You can make reports anonymously if you wish, however, when using Speak Up, we encourage you to provide contact details to the external provider who will retain it confidentially if you wish, as otherwise it may be difficult to conduct an effective investigation.
How to use Speak Up
There are two ways to Speak Up, via our helpline and via the web reporting form.
Please use whichever you feel most comfortable with.
- Speak Up can be used to report any concerns over issues like criminal activity, putting people’s health and safety in danger, environmental damage, breaches of Our Business Standards or policies and financial malpractice.
- It shouldn’t be used where there are other processes in place in Royal Mail, such as for personal grievances or bullying and harassment (which should be reported via the Raising Concerns process).
After you complete your report (online or by phone), you will receive a case reference number and unique log in details to access your case to receive updates or provide additional information. Although we aim to provide feedback on all cases, because of confidentiality requirements around individuals, we cannot provide specific feedback on some actions taken.
