Gemma Poole is a registered midwife, who turned her frustration with inadequate and exclusionary maternity care, into a support network for Black women and training that equip healthcare professionals to push for change.

This year Black History Month has been dedicated to honouring the achievements of Black women who are oen the forgotten heroines. We used this opportunity to amplify their voices and challenge the healthcare system to better serve them. The goal of this webinar is to foster understanding, provide support, and drive positive change within the community to make healthcare work for all ethnic minority women.

Discussion points:

  • Main areas to focus our attention to improve health outcomes for ethnic minority women
  • What are the common barriers to care and how to overcome them?
  • Baby loss (miscarriage) trends for ethnic minority women.  What we can all do to overcome the stigma in the community.
  • Where to get the right information and support. Signposting to ensure internal and external access to the appropriate support at the right time and from the right sources for all colleagues.
